Banner advertisements used to be all over
the web, but these days they have given way to other forms of
advertising. Still, there are companies selling banners to
webmasters. For a price, you can have thousands of impressions of
your banner placed on another website or many other websites. The
banner will link to your website; people will click on it and reach your
website. Right? Nope. "Banner blindness" set
in long ago, and current banner click-through rates are an abysmal 1/3
of 1%, making most banner buys expensive as well as ineffective.
Avoid them.
